The view of Public, Cooperative and Social Housing providers

25 million households are living in homes provided by Public, Cooperative and Social Housing organisations represented by CECODHAS Housing Europe.

Optimising end-use energy efficiency could cut our energy consumption by 45%. The sector is committed to help transform the way Europe uses energy by:

  • Making our building stock more efficient;
  • Empowering residents to save energy and water;
  • Transforming homes into the power plants of the future.

Our asks:

  • A roll-out of the appropriate financial tools at the right scale and the right time;
  • The empowerment of citizens to tackle climate change must be the cornerstone of Europe's knowledge economy and energy policy;
  • Since Europe's most vulnerable people are most affected by rising fuel prices, all EU energy-related legislation should reflect and protect against this;
  • The EU led promotion of a smart grid, which provides access to small and large power producers as a service of general interest, to serve as the backbone of Europe's energy future.
