"Energy Services 2007 - Moving Ahead!" - 22 November 2007, Brussels, Belgium

Energy efficiency in buildings leads to budgetary savings, contributes to climate protection, and the security of energy supply. An array of instruments exists to implement energy efficiency. By realising energy efficiency also economic potentials are opened up.

Market based instruments lend themselves to tap these potentials as an effective tool. Energy Performance Contracting (EPC) is such a tool. In an EPC project, an Energy Service Company (ESCO) provides its know-how and takes on the performance risk to ensure that adequate measures are implemented.

The investment is refinanced through the savings achieved. Although the advantages of tackling energy efficiency are seemingly obvious, the market potential has not been fully opened up yet. Therefore, the project EUROCONTRACT is working to increase the number of implemented EPC projects in Europe.
