The renovation was started in 1997. The aim was to achieve an energy saving of 35% and retrofit the building. Preparations and planning took 5 years. The complex renovation was financed by apartment owners and a bank loan.
Certification
An energy audit has been carried out for the building.
Work with Residents
In the first phase of the project (more than two years), the aims and plans were discussed with all 60 apartment owners who had to invest to the project. This helped the homeowners to understand the process of retrofitting and ideas of energy saving.
Funding
The project was financed by homeowners until 2007. From 2007, the project was financed with a bank loan of 1.8 million EEK (€115,000). The Apartment Association received subsidy for renovation of 61000 EEK (€4,000) from Export and Guarantee Fund KredEx.
Thermal Insulation
The roof was renovated and insulated, sidewalls and facades were also insulated.
Windows and Shading
New doors and windows were installed in corridors.
Heating and Hot Water
The heating system was renovated for the new closed heating system with heat exchanger. New measure-system installed, thermostatic valves were installed to all blocks of apartments.
Electricity Saving Products
Movement- detectors were installed to lights in corridors and on outside walls of the building to save electricity.
