Short Description
The Villa Aosta social housing complex is located in front of the Adriatic sea. The housing complex is consist in one floor row buildings forming a courtyard open on three sides, on the fourth side 4 buildings emphasize the access to the "neighbourhood", underlined further by a reinforced concrete arch.
The settlement is completed by row buildings of two floors, plus a basement, placed inside the court. The properties of the neighbourhood "Villa Aosta" consist of homes with 1 or 2 rooms as well as a toilet and kitchen. 39 of the 82 housing, are still owned by the ERAP of Ancona.
The goals of the program are environmental regeneration and improvement of the organization of the users, with particular reference to disadvantaged people; environmental regeneration through infrastructural interventions and at the same time through the restructuring of the building block together with an increase in total useful surfaces, in order to make economically balanced the renovation of buildings.
The refurbishment allows the introduction of building types most suitable for disadvantaged users, and allows the introduction of independent building units with a minimum of green spaces of exclusive use.

Involvement of residents in the design process followed by periodical assistance by condominium meeting, control of the Thermal Central even by an home automation service (servizio domotico) with a personal card for each dwelling (Full Service Neirex Eterm).

External thermal insulation of walls and roof, and laying frames with thermal break, with respect the characteristics of historical buildings.
Windows and Shading
Window frames in pine stained white with darkening system by wooden shutters.
Heating and Hot Water
Heating system with a Central Thermal gas powered, and with Solar Panels for domestic hot water.
Electricity Saving Products
Outside lighting is realized by LED (light-emitting diode) that presents many advantages over traditional light sources such as lower energy consumption and longer lifetime. Moreover a lighting control device will be installed to low lightness during the night.

Solar Panels for domestic hot water, connected with the Central Thermal.

Lessons learned
In this historical moment we must operate improving the energy efficiency of our existing buildings, for ethical and economical reasons. Cities are one of the main causes of pollution. Then we must project listening the needs of people, even if it is complicated.
