SWL - La Société Wallonne du Logement is a public utility organisation with 68 members (local public housing companies) managing a rental housing stock of 103.000 units. Through the renting, acquisition or building of housing, its major mission is to provide decent housing for all, in particular for citizens from a modest background.

Description of the Platform

Description of the Platform

In September 2009 the SWL - La Société Wallonne du Logement decided to establish a Regional POWER HOUSE Platform in collaboration with the Association of Walloon Housing and Public Services Companies (AWAL), the Association of Walloon Advisory Committees of Tenants and Owners (AWCCLP) and the Walloon Confederation of Construction (CCW). The main mission of the Platform is to disseminate the results of European projects on energy efficiency by promoting the exchange of best practices both at local and at European level. Particularly, the Platform aims at raising awareness of owners and tenants in order to improve energy efficient behaviors and prevent fuel poverty.

Platform Strategy

The main task of the Platform is to provide information at regional level on European projects on energy efficiency and use of renewables by promoting the exchange of good practices both locally and vis-à-vis other national and European bodies. Through a section of the SWL’s website dedicated to the Wallon POWER HOUSE Platform, the information available are disseminated to all stakeholders with the objective to raise awareness both on tenants and social landlords and fight against fuel poverty in order to improve the leaving conditions of our tenants.
