Aedes is the national organisation promoting the interests of almost every social housing organisation in the Netherlands, on all possible fronts. Together, Aedes members manage 2.4 million dwellings, constituting 34 percent of the total housing stock.
As a network organisation, knowledge centre and think tank, Aedes provides a platform for its 600 members to meet, exchange ideas and develop visions. Together with its members, Aedes works on research and product development to meet the needs of housing consumers, resulting in new products like lease purchase, inexpensive insurance and estate agency services.
Aedes members are modern real estate businesses and service providers, working independently at their own expense and risk. They supply a broad package of affordable housing services that meet the various needs of their clients. Apart from housing, this includes a wide range of services that add to living comfort, security, service and quality.
Aedes works together with its members on living/care arrangements for the elderly and for groups with special needs, such as mentally or physically disabled or asylum seekers. Aedes also promotes the idea of involving the housing organisations in city investment plans and enters into collaborative relationships for this purpose.

Although a POWER HOUSE Platform has not been established, Aedes, with its members has defined how to best develop POWER HOUSE EUROPE activities to ensure an added value to its existing "Energy saving and sustainability" Platform.
This Platform was established by Aedes in order to combine the expertise about energy saving and sustainably present by its members. By exchanging information, knowledge and experiences between different housing organisations, people can learn from each other and achieve better results.
The Platform has subgroups, each group focuses on a specific theme on energy saving and sustainability. The goal of a subgroup is to create and distribute knowledge.

Knowledge Exchange: the platform “Energy saving and sustainability” meets four times a year. There is the possibility to participate in the program and to define the subject of a meeting. Sometimes experts are invited to share their expertise or energy saving projects are visited.
Lobby: Aedes is actively engaged in the policy making on national level. The platform is used to give input in the discussions on energy saving and sustainable solutions for social housing organisations.
Meeting Members: there is plenty of possibility to meet colleagues and to discuss with each other. Members can also share knowledge via the digital community of Aedes.
Contact person: Mr Albert Koedam, Energy Saving and Sustainability Platform coordinator.
