HSB - The Swedish Cooperative Housing Association is a cooperative housing association organised at national, regional and local level, representing 33 regional cooperative associations who in turn have 3,903 cooperative local housing companies as members. HSB housing stock amounts to 317,000 units with 27,000 rental dwellings. The other managed housing stock amounts to 34.300 units. HSB members are committed to contribute to a sustainable environment and climate-smart energy consumption and usage. HSB is also taking an active part in international cooperation through membership in the International Cooperative Alliance, CECODHAS Housing Europe and the Nordic Co-operative and social housing companies Organisation (NBO). In cooperation with the Swedish Co-operative Centre, HSB participates also in housing projects in developing countries.

The HSB POWER HOUSE Platform is composed by all HSB’s members and focuses its activities on a common strategy entitled “HSB Climate Strategy”. POWER HOUSE EUROPE is meant to contribute to HSB work on energy efficiency by providing key information from a European perspective and facilitating the exchange of information and best practices with the other POWER HOUSE Platforms. Other support is given to HSB thanks through the cooperation with Energy Agencies and other key Swedish environmental organisations and research institutes.

“POWER HOUSE EUROPE is a part of the "HSB Climate Strategy". The strategy sets target for HSB Cooperatives of 40% reduction in CO2e (CO2 equivalent) by the 100th anniversary of the organisation in 2023, with 2008 as a base line. Calculations of HSB’s climate impact are made annually based on a common methodology and are integrated into HSB sustainability reporting. HSB members have already signed up to the HSB Climate Agreement and started to calculate their climate impact. HSB members see POWER HOUSE EUROPE as a good opportunity to exchange experiences and new ideas and compare progress in different countries.
